A Brief Voidship Encounter

My Lord, our Canoptek Spyders and Scarabs have begun searching the drifting ship for any useful technologies or signs of threats to the nearby slumbering tomb worlds.”

The Cryptek was always nervous around Lord Atrazil, who was known to aggressively decommission any subordinates he found insolent or insufficiently competent. His predecessor had met such an end after delivering particularly bad news about Terran probes into this sector. He was pleased that the Overlord mostly ignored his update.

Only a short while had passed when a series of explosions rocked the adjacent section of the ship they had boarded.

Lord, I hate to trouble you again, but it appears we have been boarded by Aeldari slavers, it is a not insignificant force and we have lost contact with some of our Spyders…

He was aggressively brushed aside as Atrazil strode in the direction of the detonations, his Royal Lychguard snapping to attention and trying to keep ahead of him. The commander quickly relayed messages to a few detachments of warriors from the boarding party who began to converge on the section of the ship that had been breached.

As the Deathmarks shimmered into space they sighted two units of Aeldari warriors, armour adorned with wicked spikes, carefully advancing down a long central corridor. Their synaptic disintegrators crackled and the accurate fire downed several figures in the distance. A single Deathmark shimmered out of realspace after a piercing black bolt came arcing back.

Atrazil realized he could make quick work of these annoying intruders. Striding forward flanked by his bodyguard, he moved towards the enemy, passing through a couple of sealed hatches. On the opposite side of the corridor, a small unit of warriors probed ahead of three eager Skorpekh Destroyers, their hyperphase blades already moving through the air in anticipation of the familiar ritual of close combat.

While the Deathmarks dominated the firing lane along the main corridor, supported by several Immortals, the Warriors and Skorpekhs dispatched a unit of blade wielding fanatics wearing little in the form of protection. The last one standing showing remarkable poise at the death, surrounded by silent Skorpekh killers.

Atrazil glimpsed what be believed to be the leader of the raiding rabble through a hatchway and ordered his Lychguard to crash into combat. Their brief skirmish with the Aeldari pirate ended with him disemboweled on the floor gratings, but his escort unit wielded long blades and howled with a frenzied fury as they hewed their way through Atrazil’s bodyguard - leaving none standing.

It was but a temporary reprieve as the Lord avenged their death with a stream of fire from his staff, casually using it to batter the only survivor to the ground.

Cryptek, send the Spyders back in, and clean up this mess!
